Other Scholarships

WorldTeach is pleased to offer the following fellowships and scholarships to current and prospective volunteers.  If you are a Harvard student, please visit the Opportunities for Harvard Students page as well for more scholarship and funding information.

We recommend that all volunteers read our Fundraising Guide and call us if you would like to discuss your ideas for fundraising.  Also, check with your college career services or fellowships office about grants or scholarships for work in international development or education.

Grants for In-Country Volunteers

WorldTeach volunteers currently teaching in Namibia, the Marshall Islands, or Costa Rica may apply for mini-grants of approximately $250 each from the Kristin Linnea Skvarla Foundation. Four to eight of these mini-grants will be awarded by the Foundation each year to support your projects either in your school or your community. Applications may be made directly to the Foundation. Please notify the WorldTeach Cambridge office when you apply.

Please read more about this opportunity for more details on how to apply.

Scholarships for Extending WorldTeach Volunteers

WorldTeach has a limited number of named scholarships established through the generosity of former volunteers and their families and friends. These limited scholarship funds are available to assist current volunteers who are extending their WorldTeach service commitment for an additional year.

The scholarship awards are usually in the range of $100-$600 (depending on the amount in the appropriate named fund) and are ordinarily granted to help toward health insurance costs for a second year abroad. Volunteers who wish to extend their service should email the Program Manager to request information regarding financial assistance toward the costs of their second year.
