Kristin Linnea Skvarla Foundation Grant – Namibia
WorldTeach volunteers accepted to the Namibia Year Program will receive $500 from the Kristin Linnea Skvarla Foundation. This is factored into the $2490 volunteer commitment. Other more limited scholarships are also available for Namibia Semester and Summer programs.
The Samuel Huntington Service Award
This is a $10,000 award given to a graduating college senior to pursue public service anywhere in the world. The activity can be undertaken by the student alone or working through established charitable, religious, education, governmental, or other public service organizations. The Ambassadors Scholarship Foundation administers a scholarship fund that awards scholarships to deserving persons for programs that enhance international understanding and friendship. This understanding is obtained through educational, cultural, and humanitarian activities involving the direct exchange of ideas and experiences among peoples of different countries and diverse cultures.
Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.
The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains

Finaid is focused on financial aid for study abroad and domestic exchange programs.
Freeman awards for study in Asia provides scholarships for US undergraduate students with financial need who are studying abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
ISA awards over $600,000 in grants and scholarships to participating students each year. Their site also includes a list of outside scholarships compiled by ISA.
The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.

If you are a university student, keep in mind that some universities offer scholarships for semesters abroad. It never hurts to ask what is available. Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available online. This form must be on file in order for you to be considered for any type of aid. Fill it out even if you are unsure if you are going to go abroad at this point. It can only help the process in the long run. Meet with a financial aid counselor to learn more about what types of aid or assistance you may qualify for, or if you have any questions.
